In 1840, in an attempt to capitalize on William Henry Harrison's popularity as the log cabin and hard cider candidate, E.C. Booz began selling his whiskey in glass bottles shaped like log cabins. With the overwhelming success of Booz's "Log Cabin Whiskey" people all over the country began referring to all brands of whiskey as Booz. In the American language, the word "Booze" has been synonymous with hard alcohol ever since.
